Gokhan Avcioglu and GAD’s research and interaction with the contemporary architecture culture of Russia.

Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, Barcelona. Gokhan Avcioglu of GAD and Seda Tugutlu of the GAD Foundation both gave presentations at the 2A Magazine Interaction Forum that took place alongside the award ceremony of the 2A Continental Architectural Awards for Asia and Europe on October 26th 2018 in Barcelona at The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia.

The GAD Foundation organised a lecture by Ferda Kolatan for October 4th, 2018 at Istanbul Technical University, Taskisla campus in Istanbul entitled “Hybrids and Crossbreeds, A Case for Ambiguous Architecture”. The lecture which focused on Kolatan’s ideas of mixing architectural forms to generate “Ambiguous Architecture” was attended by architecture students and faculty members of architecture schools in Istanbul and also the visiting students from Ferda Kolatan’s PennDesign studio and Winka Dubbeldam, Chair and Miller Professor of Architectureat PennDesign, University of Pennsylavania.

The GAD Foundation organised a lecture by the Russian - German architect Sergei Tchoban on September 21st, 2018 at ITU, Taskisla campus, sponsored by Schüco and Consept Projects. Sergei Tchoban is a well known contemporary architect working in Europe and Russia with a focus on modernism, architectural character and drawing.

GAD participated in the Moscow Urban Forum in July 2018 showcasing the Media City project in Istanbul connected to the city’s new airport.

The GAD Foundation has engaged in a strategic partnership with the Japanese based FANUC Corporation the world’s largest manufacturer of automation products and services such as robotics and computer numerical control systems. The first phase of the collaboration with FANUC was the training of young architects from GAD at FANUC’s training facilities in Istanbul. Architects were exposed to FANUC’s range of CNC machines and robots used in factory automation and industrial robotics. In the coming year The GAD Foundation will work with FANUC to develop programs to implement robotics in the design and construction process.

Gokhan Avcioglu and GAD Foundation (GADEV) major participant in MIPIM real estate fair in Cannes, France. The world’s largest real estate and construction fair, MIPIM, took place in Cannes, France between 13-16, March, 2018 with a large number of international participants from property development, construction and architecture.

GAD has been awarded the WAFX Prize, a special prize to commemorate the World Architecture Festival’s 10th year, in the Smart Cities category for the Media City Project.

The question "What is new in architecture?" was addressed at a panel discussion held at Yapı Endustri Merkezi in İstanbul on November 7th, 2018. Gökhan Avcıoğlu, GADEV's Alpaslan Ataman, and architecture critic Gökhan Karakuş were among the speakers at this talk looking at contemporary architecture and built environment.

GAD’s ‘Media City’ project was awarded the special ‘Jeu D’Esprit’ prize by the jury at the ‘MIPIM AR Future Project Awards 2017’ organized by MIPIM, the World’s most comprehensive real estate summit, in collaboration with the venerable Architectural Review (AR) magazine.

Our CADDE Project was exhibited at the IN Practice Conference and Exhibition in Naples.
